Current projects:
- Ground Communication Outlet – is now operational!!
- Building B - the remaining windows and
doors will be replaced as weather permits.
- Runway 6-24 – The seal coat and marking project
was halted by the cool weather.
The project will resume in the spring of 2010.
- Crack filling – 24,500 ft of cracks will be
sealed in the spring of 2010
- SRE Purchase – The
Airport is pursuing a grant to purchase a new piece of Snow Removal
Equipment. The SRE will be
equipped with a snow blower and broom.
- Fence Project –
Weather permitting, the fence project will be completed in the spring of
2010.
- Underground Power Cable –
The power line along Route 16 (along the fence) will be moved
underground for safety purposes.
Recent News Releases:
- Airshow 10 - Plans for Air Show 10 are
already underway – anyone interested in joining an airshow committee,
please contact the Airport Authority office.
- Auto Cross Dates - The Champaign County Auto
Cross will continue to utilize the airport in 2010. Their next event is
scheduled for June 26-27 and Aug 7-8.
- Motorcycle Courses - 2009 classes are complete.
A schedule for 2010 will be posted in early spring 2010.
- Airport of the Year – The Coles County
Memorial Airport
was named Airport of the Year for the second time.
